Time for me to fly

I've been writing ALL SUMMER LONG. By that I mean, head-down, eyes-forward, fugue-state, little contact with the real world, living in my Batman pajamas and Mariners hoodie (yes, all writers are also part-time fashion criminals), in a common-law marriage with my laptop WRITING. And it's been wonderful.

I'm just shy of 80,000 words on the next novel. No title yet, which is driving me bonkers, but I'm sure it'll manifest and introduce itself to me soon.

But, I also have a smattering of book travel to Connecticut, Louisiana, Virginia, Chicago, Spokane, Seattle, and Billings. So, dusting off the suitcase, loading up on audio books, and bracing myself for a vigorous airport pat-down.

See you soon.

Thank you Missouri! Next up: Kentucky

Thank you Kansas City & St. Charles!I had some company in the green roomWhen I was in Los Angeles there was an earthquake (actually two). When I was in St. Louis...there was a tornado. Is it me? If it is, I'm sorry Kentucky, perhaps you should start building an ark. A bomb shelter? A doom bunker in preparation for the Zombie Apocalypse?

I'm home for a few days before I turn around and head to Paducah for a college read. Then home again and a quick pivot to Seattle for World Book Night.

And in case you're wondering how many frequent flyer miles I have, it's more than 800,000. At this point I'm just going for a cool million, then I'll figure out what to do with them. Travel to the Kingdom of Tuvalu? Get a ride on the Space Shuttle? Donate them to charity?

Less travel. More writing. That's the plan for now. Oh, and a nap.

Thank you SoCal! Next up: Kansas City, St. Louis, and a my quest for BBQ

Wow. Had an amazing time in Southern California and not just because a blizzard hit as I was leaving Montana (okay, that was part of it). The crowds were lovely, the readers intrepid, and the libraries and bookstores outstanding as always. Thank you!

I even got a little extra press after I left, which is always nice. (Warning: selfie included)

Now I'm facing a quandary as I somehow got double booked and am holding two plane tickets: one for Montana, the other for Kansas City. I should go to Kansas, but home is calling. It's like my life has become one of those Choose Your Own Adventure books.

I guess I'll go to Kansas, as requested. Because BBQ!
