High Plains Literary Drifter

Howdy pardner, I'll be winding down four weeks of travel with a quick stop in Seattle for this year's Lit Crawl (I'll be at the Hugo house, reading for exactly seven minutes).

And then I'll be in Billings for the High Plains Book Festival.

I'll be enjoying Friday's big gala event and then doing my thing on Saturday. Also, Songs of Willow Frost is up for an award (but remember, no wagering).

Books on the Underground

In NYC the subway has rats the size of house cats. In London the Underground has books. Like mine. For free. You win, London. I love this idea.

Time for me to fly

I've been writing ALL SUMMER LONG. By that I mean, head-down, eyes-forward, fugue-state, little contact with the real world, living in my Batman pajamas and Mariners hoodie (yes, all writers are also part-time fashion criminals), in a common-law marriage with my laptop WRITING. And it's been wonderful.

I'm just shy of 80,000 words on the next novel. No title yet, which is driving me bonkers, but I'm sure it'll manifest and introduce itself to me soon.

But, I also have a smattering of book travel to Connecticut, Louisiana, Virginia, Chicago, Spokane, Seattle, and Billings. So, dusting off the suitcase, loading up on audio books, and bracing myself for a vigorous airport pat-down.

See you soon.

I just destroyed Seattle. Oops, my bad

Hey kids, the second book in the Apocalypse Triptych, edited by Hugo award winning editor John Joseph Adams and Hugh Howey is available...oh, you know...like right now! Book two features end of the world stories by Seanen McGuire, Jonathan Mayberry, Elizabeth Bear, and yours truly, wreaking havoc on Seattle, circa 1910.

As T.S. Elliot once said, "This is the way the world ends, not with a bang but by a comet, a zombie horde, a nanobot takeover, ah, screw this, I'm gonna drink some absinthe. Cheers." Something like that.
