Hotel on the Corner of Sold Out

To be perfectly honest I was quite nervous to see Hotel on stage. Not because I doubted the director or the incredible actors, but because my words would be up there, on display for the whole world to see in a new way. (I don't even listen to my audio books because it's just...too...weird).

But after sitting in the audience at Book-It Theatre on opening night, all I can say is wow. They took an okay book and turned it into a wonderful play. I was blown away by director, Annie Lareau, and am still in awe of the cast. I loved, loved, loved it and I guess I'm not the only one because the entire run is now sold out. But, if you're intrepid you can go to any of the sold-out shows and get on the stand-by list. As many as a dozen seats regularly come open each night, so there's still a chance.

And at the end of the show, much to my surprise and the delight of my overwhelmed senses, the cast pulled me onstage for the final bow before a standing ovation.

I'm still twitterpated.

The graphics for the show are incredible. I can't make the show, but if they were true to the book? I for one would like to see what they could with it as a movie.

If you like the graphics and can't see the show, you might enjoy photos (from one of our last rehearsals before opening):

There are a ton of them. If you ARE going to see the show, you probably shouldn't look first since it might spoil some of the staging for you. Otherwise, it's a little hard to imagine someone is reading this blog without having read the book, so there's not too much danger of spoiling the plot...

Alas, I come to find there are no photos of them both with The Oscar Holden record.
