Summertime blues and other colors

Holy cannoli, has it really been that long since my last blog post? Sorry folks, that deafening sound of blog silence is the sound of me writing.

The NEW new book (not to be confused with the old new book) is nearing completion. I'm at 300 pages and counting. Hoping. Praying. Sleeping. More writing. Hopefully I'll be done some time this month, which should put the new novel on path for a publication date sometime between now and the next time Halley's Comet swings its icy tail through our orbit—so hang in there.

Speaking of swinging by, I have more book related travel sprinkled throughout the year, including stops in Chicago, Boca, Charlotte, Seattle, and Las Vegas. I'll update the never-ending-tour calendar soon.

But first, I'm off to Fishtrap, a wonderful writers' workshop on the south shore of Lake Wallowa in Oregon. I'll be teaching all week, free from the tethers of WiFi, email, and cell service. I expect my body to react like a heroin user gone cold turkey. My methadone will be a stack of books.

And on colorful note, here's a few pics of summer fun with the family.

Madi, creating her own fireworks on the 4th

Taylor, busking his way to the Berklee School of Music

Kassie, creating sidewalk runesWith Rissa, atop Divide Mountain, which we renamed Stairmaster MtnLucas & Riley. Yes, we set off 16,000 firecrackers. My ears are still ringing

Hey Jamie,
I just checked in, wondering if you were working on a new book, and there was my answer. I'm so happy. Can't wait to read the new one. Does it have a title yet?

You seem to have a nice balance between writing and family time.

Do you have a specific time in the day you dedicate towards your craft?

Do you listen to Music when you write?

Thanks.

I was happy to read in your blog that a new book is in the works. The pictures of your children, wow! I can just imagine how loud and crazy your house must be! Fun!

When will your visit to Chicago be? My bookclub located southwest of Chicago has just finished reading Hotel. Would love to have my group (12) come meet you.

I just finished Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet.....absolutely loved it! It speaks to the romantic in me. Jamie...an idea for a sequel would be the story told by Keiko's point of view and what life was like for her. I love finding new authors and will defintely be following you:)
