Renwick Gallery: Washington, DC
Tuesday, August 10, 2010
There was a "teensy" bit of construction outside.
Surrounded by fine folks and precious art.
Some strange house across the street.Just got back from Washington DC where I spent countless hours explaining, "No, it's a district, not a state." (My kids may never get this).
Aside from dragging my texting teens past our national treasures (A Da Vinci, a Picasso, Fonzi's leather jacket), I had a wonderful time at the Writer's Center in Bethesda, Politics & Prose in DC, and Books & Crannies in Virginia.
And last but not least, in addition to visiting a host of museums, I was delighted to present in one--namely the Smithsonian's Renwick Gallery, which was gorgeous. Though I couldn't help feeling that my presence only brought down the property value. Nevertheless, we had a great crowd and a fine time. Thanks to Katie and her crew for having me!
Now I'm back at the writing desk, staring at my manuscript.
It's calling to me...

Sounds like you had a great time in D.C. I recall taking my daughter there. She was young enough that they let me accompany her into the insect museum at Natural History. Hissing cockroaches! Great memories!
While you were in D.C., I was signing books at the Old Faithful Inn--the perfect place for my collection of Yellowstone adventure stories. Got to see a great cross section of humanity surge into the lobby between eruptions. Best of all, I met some true fans who read my book and enjoyed it.
You can read all about it on my blog:
