Landing in Seattle

This week I’ll be prying myself away from my writing desk for a few days to head back to the Emerald City (or thereabouts). I love the Pacific Northwest in the summer-ish months. What better time to catch a ferry to Whidbey, stroll through the I.D., or duck flying fish at the Pike Place Market? Speaking of the Market, I heard PETA has officially protested the throwing of fish. Really? *facepalm*

I like the idea of Pike place fishmongers tossing slimy copies of Hotel at baffled tourists...could be a great cross-promotion.

Just left Seattle for the first time - your book was recommended to me by a bookseller though ironically I was already holding a copy. I had already read your book, but wanted to own it myself. Hopefully someday you'll make it to the Bay Area to speak.

Hi Jaclyn,

I made it to the Bay Area last year and loved it, and hopefully will be back down there next March. Stay tuned... :)

Gotta love PETA :-)

Did PETA have an opinion on the Monty Python Fish-Slapping Dance?

In other breaking news, my sister informs me that HOTEL is on the summer reading list at the Loma Linda Academy, a venerable (well, by Californian standards, meaning 1906) prep school down here.

Sheesh. Now you've arrived. And after SILAS MARNER et al in the spring, HOTEL is bound to get you a whole flock of new fans.

Jamie Ford, assigned reading. Who woulda thought?

Thanks David--that's really cool news. I'm homework, how weird is that?
