What's your Holy Grail?

Someone recently asked, "What's your Holy Grail as an author or writer––that moment when you know you've made it?"

Now that I think about it, making it has always been about job satisfaction rather than financial gain or career longevity. More qualitative than quantitative. I remember once being asked in a job interview what my ultimate career goal was. My answer: "To be able to bring my golden retriever to work with me every day."

So when it comes to writing, one of those qualitative moments was to speak at the Tattered Cover Bookstore in Denver. They do a nice podcast, in fact I blogged about it two years ago. Now I'm on it. I should have brought my dog with me...

Yeah, but what did Sadie actually do when you brought her to work that time? Thanks, pal.

That's just a sign of canine affection.

Hey Jamie,
just thought I would check in and say Hi! I've been busy lately and also added an additional blog to my site. (one personal, one business), check it out if you have time.
My "Holy Grail" moment was when I sold two of my photographs recently. I had a hard time imagining anyone wanting to hang my stuff on their walls....... and it was certainly more about job satisfaction than financial gain. As my website states, starving artist / photographer tries his hand at writing. :-)

Yes, and unfortunately I missed that shining moment of yours. Timing is everything.
