Kepler's Books: Menlo Park, CA

Lunch at Kirin with Richard Lym and a host of relatives from the Bay Area--so great to meet everyone!I have such fond childhood memories of San Francisco. Buying firecrackers on the street in Chinatown. Seeing my first major league baseball game in what was then just known as Candlestick Park (Giants vs. Dodgers). And of course, doing all the touristy things--Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf, the Wax Museum...

**Pause for wave of nostalgia**

Ahhh...it's nice to be back. Today was crazy busy. We squeezed in five drop-in book signings before dashing down to the Clearchannel Studios for an interview with Jim Foster at KKGN-AM. Then off to Clayton for a fantastic book event which I'll post about tomorrow.

Last night was a talk and signing at Kepler's, a terrific indie store in Menlo Park. Being a newbie author it's so amazing to walk in, see my books, see posters, see my mug on a banner. This was stop #7 on the Bittersweet Tour and I'm still not used to it. Still it was sooo...cool.

It was also nice to share the evening with friends--like Seth Fleisher from the Squaw Valley Community of Writers, and Kennedy Brandt and Mariko Gjovig from OSC's Literary Bootcamp--all fabulous writers in their own right. And I also got to meet fellow author, Meg Waite Clayton--thanks for coming out and making my night!

Oh, and did I mention that HOTEL is now going into its 3rd printing?!

Congrats Jamie!! Keplers is a gem. I went to med school at Stanford and spent many afternoons there officially studying something but really taking multiple breaks to read the amazing literary magazine collection or to see what new, cool hardcover titles had come out. It is totally fitting that you did a reading there, and kudos for helping indie bookstores like this survive.

Very glad you came through town to haul me out of my daily routine and infuse your writerly inspiration into the week. It may have been only your seventh official stop, but you came across like an old pro. Let's do it again next tour!

So glad that I got to see you and do the writerly thing with friends. As Kennedy said, it was very inspirational, and it would be a delight to see you back in the area again soon.

Third printing, yay!!!!!

And what a great family meal photo. :)

What a treat, Jamie, to get to hear you read and to hang out again for the first time in a couple years--and to meet your comrades from the Boot Camp. Come back soon! In the meantime, I've got some old friends headed to see you at Tattered Books next week.
