Davis-Kidd Booksellers: Nashville, TN

Tomorrow Nashville will host the Country Music Awards, which explains the sea of stretch limos in front of my hotel and the blinding explosion of sequins and spray-on tan in the lobby. I'd love to sit and watch the stars go by (or watch others stare and think, “Who the heck are you?”) but it’s been a busy day.

In addition to a fantastic event at Davis-Kidd Booksellers (Thanks Catherine!), I was able to visit Ingram Book Company, one of the largest book distributors in North America—which for an author is sort of like visiting the Taj Mahal, with fewer minarets and no one speaks Hindi. I even signed a HOTEL poster for their walk-of-fame, which features posters from ever author you could imagine. David Sedaris’ poster read, “Thanks for making me rich.” Love it.

Tomorrow it’s off to Lou-uh-vul and an event at Carmichael’s Bookstore.

Then Atlanta. Then Miami. Then…home at last...

Whoa, I've never seen an author talk configured like that! Did it affect the experience?

I'm wondering about that too (the question Kristan asked). Congratulations on getting to visit Ingram though. That is really cool. So how did you sign your poster then?

Actually that was a pic from the luncheon at Ingram. I was too slow with my camera at Davis-Kidd, but we had about 30 people...all in all a bit cozier.

Eric--I'll never tell. You'll have to see it for yourself. :)

(It wasn't as funny as Sedaris...)
