Almost as exciting as the new phone book! It's got my name and everything

It’s hard to believe that HOTEL will finally be out next week, and that I’ll have my first real book signing in less than a fortnight. The last month has been a lovely, humbling experience. Interviews, guest blogs, and essays. One more radio interview next Tuesday—stay tuned, it’s a biggie.

Still, my second novel, Whispers of a Thunder God, is sitting here staring at me like an orphaned child. And since I tend to write obsessively, this time off has only allowed seeds of doubt to germinate about the narrative structure. Right now, I’m nearing 300 pages, with another 200 to go. (I’ve cut at least that many pages already). Suddenly those whispers are saying, “Chuck it all you fool––start again! Once more, from the top!” Nice to know the relative success of HOTEL hasn’t quelled my internal critic.

In case you’re wondering, the UPS man brought me an actual book, in all its hardbound goodness. I didn’t sleep with it under my pillow or anything, but it always seems to be close by. I think it’s following me.

I'm sure your book will appreciate being taken out for drinks, at least.

I hope book two isn't under a tight deadline! Don't worry - when it comes down to the crunch, you'll get back into the swing of things.

Good luck with sales, and congrats again!

That video was wonderful! Now, when I re read the book, and I will, the images will be easily recalled. Please don't give up your day job because I look forward to reading your books for years to come.
